Artisanal Tasmanian furniture and artwork tell a story of Tasmania; of its cultural and wild heritage, creating a strong link to the historic setting and to the owner’s own story.

  • The bedrooms and hall are hung with an eclectic mix of contemporary and early Tasmanian prints and watercolours, reflecting the owner’s Tasmanian heritage and love of the island.

  • A stunning painting of Lake St. Clair hangs in the living room (Soaking up the light, Peter Gouldthorpe, oil on linen, 2020), twinned with a colonial painting of the same area (Mount Gould, the Du Cane Range, Narcissus River, Lake St. Clair, H.B. Rollings, oil on canvas, c1895).

  • The Bill standing lamp, crafted from Tasmanian oak by Stuart Williams creates a cosy pool of light on winter evenings, completing the antique leather and timber furniture in the living space.

  • An outsized Peter Dombrovskis wilderness photograph hangs in the bathroom.

  • A generous Tasmanian messmate timber dining table is complemented by a bespoke Huon pine side table.

  • The bookshelves are lined with Tasmaniana and curios. Soft furnishings and interiors by Stenning Design reflect the origins of the cottage as an early Tasmanian gentleman’s residence.
